Purpose and Scope

This position is only for existing hourly school based non-instructional employees. Due to the late start date, this is an opportunity for hourly employees to receive additional compensation. External Candidates are ineligible to apply for this position.


The Electronics Distribution Clerk distributes SCS-owned laptops and other technology equipment.  Collaborates with onsite staff to ensure the efficient distribution process and provides a high-level customer service experience to students and parents.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Distributes laptops and other SCS technology equipment to parents.
  2. Complies with SCS distribution policies and relevant rules and regulations regarding SCS staff-parent interactions.
  3. Provides exceptional customer service for students and parents to support efficient distribution even in stressful situations when it is necessary to facilitate successful resolutions.
  4. Meets with supervisor, site leads, and colleagues regularly to support effective planning, distribution strategies and required training. 
  5. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed by the Director of Alternative Education or site leads to ensure the success of each deployment cycle. 
  6. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires High School diploma or GED; some college preferred. Must be able to read and write and be a current SCS employee with an active directory. Bilingual candidates are highly sought.

Degree Equivalency Formula:

Bachelor’s Degree = 4 years of additional experience in lieu of degree level.

Master’s Degree = 6 years of additional experience in lieu of degree level.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to demonstrate computer proficiency. Must have knowledge and operational familiarity with Microsoft Office software, specifically Excel, Word, and TEAMS; and be able to operate a laptop and a tablet with proficiency.
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and belief in the worth and dignity of all students and parents and their potential to achieve various levels of success.
  • Time management skills. Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment without sacrificing productivity. Effective management of directives and attention to detail.
  • Reliable transportation or the ability to arrive on time to various work locations throughout the city, including a split work shift in 2 locations.
  • Ability to work for long hours in outdoor environments that may be excessively hot and/or humid and during potentially high pollen counts.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment where working with others is essential for the overall completion of the task.


Physical Requirements and Working Environment

Physical Demands: Requires active work involving standing and walking, lifting up to 50 pounds of force on a regular basis to move supplies and equipment; and some dexterity in operating office equipment; must be able to use hands and fingers

Unavoidable Hazards: The position is exposed to no unusual environmental hazards.  However, the position involves extensive outdoor work during times of the day when heat and humidity may be extreme and air quality may be poor.

Required to wear face masks and gloves during all work shifts and in-person meetings.

Sensory (ADA) Requirements: The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing and speaking abilities.
