During summer school, therapists provides skilled interventions and/or adapted tools and strategies to facilitate student access and participation in summer coursework, for students with an Individual Education Plan (IEP) or eligibility under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. This may include activities such as the selection and use of assistive and/or adaptive technology, or therapeutic strategies and tools that remove barriers to access and participation in the curriculum.

The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for providing direct health care services to students under the direction of a RN. The Licensed Practical Nurse will administer medication and medical treatment prescribed by the physician. The Licensed Practical Nurse contributes to the nursing assessment by collecting, reporting and recording objective and subjective data in an accurate and timely manner.  

Provides interpreting and other support services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing who are participating in inclusive or self-contained settings during the school day and during extra-curricular activities. Interprets for students and provides appropriate signs to students and staff when needed. Provides guidance and assistance to students as needed, and performing related work as assigned. Works under general supervision according to some procedures; decides how and when to complete tasks.

During the Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) Extended School Year Period, provides prevention, assessment and remediation services for students who exhibit difficulties in and meet the Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE) eligibility criteria in the areas of language impairment and speech impairment including articulation, voice and/or fluency, receptive language, expressive language and/or pragmatic language. These services are designed to help children meet their educational goals.

The essential function of the position within the organization is to facilitate the provision of services to students and families regarding social, behavioral, emotional, and academic challenges for summer school sites. The position is responsible for evaluating students' needs, assisting in preparing and implementing plans to assist them with behavioral/social/psychological issues, proving individual and group counseling, providing consultation to teachers and other professionals, maintaining accurate and complete case records, and performing related work as required during the summer.
