This position is responsible for professional instructions during summer school designed to provide academic, social, physical, and skills development for students in specific grades/subject areas to prepare them to be successful citizens and workers in the 21st century.
This position is responsible for professional instructions during summer school designed to provide academic, social, physical, and skills development for students in specific grades/subject areas to prepare them to be successful citizens and workers in the 21st century.

Serves as primary contact for staff, students, parents and the public at the summer school site. Welcomes and assists everyone who enters the summer school site and directs them to the appropriate staff. Supports the summer school site by performing general office and routine clerical duties.
Supports summer school sites from the central office by performing data base administration for summer school locations. Maintains databases including enrollment, student schedules, attendance, grades, other student records primarily in the Student Management System (SMS) PowerSchool Grading and Scheduling Systems software and/or payroll in the Advanced Program for Education Computer System (APECS) to ensure accurate compliance with state and district academic requirements.
During summer school, develops strategies and/or specialized Intervention or Prevention programs to improve the behavior of students who experience significant social-behavioral challenges.
Supervises the day to day operations of the summer school site to ensure quality instruction and the safety of the staff and students. Communicates behavior expectations and consequences of action to staff, students and parents. Administers discipline when necessary to correct disruptive behavior. Oversees the opening and closing of summer school sites. Ensures compliance with all state, district, and summer school policies and procedures. Ensures all state and district documents are submitted on time.
During summer school, ensures that the health needs of identified students are met. May provide extra services for students with Individual Education Plans (IEP). Monitors and evaluates service delivery by the other health care staff. Ensures adequate communication is provided to others participating in the care of the students.
During Summer Learning Academy serves as liaison between District staff and students or parents whose primary spoken language is one other language than English. Provides academic assistance to students in the English as a Second Language (ESL) program. Interprets for students, parents, and teachers.

Performs specialized work by assisting special education teachers in instructing and supervising the activities of students with disabilities to provide a well-organized, smoothly functioning classroom environment. The position is responsible for assisting assigned teachers in preparing instructional materials, preparing classrooms for activities, supervising and assisting children in the classroom and in other areas of the school, reinforcing classroom lessons, and providing other assistance as requested; incumbents may be responsible for providing assistance to special needs students or coordinating special projects and programs as assigned.
